[Note: YOSHIMARU Ramen Bar has ceased operations.]
I am really happy to have taken part in the YOSHIMARU Ramen Challenge 2015.
This is the third time that YOSHIMARU Ramen Bar is organising this ramen eating competition. For this year, the super-sized serving of the Traditional Hakata Ramen will comprise two portions of the delicious noodles, served with tonkotsu soup, Japanese soft boiled lava eggs, sliced pork and black fungus, with a generous garnishing of spring onions. You will have to finish the double portion within 4 minutes 30 seconds and the ramen is on the house.
The winner with the fastest overall timing will be rewarded with a pair of round-trip tickets to Japan, sponsored by M.R.S Restaurant Group, in collaboration with Japan Airlines. The First Runner-up will walk away with a 3D2N Staycation in Movenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa’s Onsen-Suite, while the Second Runner-up gets to enjoy a 2D1N getaway in W Hotel Sentosa Cove’s Fabulous Room. The Best Female Timing takes home a $300 YOSHIMARU voucher. Sounds really amazing right?

Well, if you don’t get to complete the challenge, don’t fret as you can take part in the Funniest Photo Contest where the Top 3 Funniest Photos (based on the number of likes) from the entire challenge will be announced when the YOSHIMARU Ramen Challenge ends. The grand prize for this photo contest is worth up to $100 in cash vouchers!
Here are 5 main reasons why you should join the YOSHIMARU Ramen Challenge:
No. 1 – Experience the thrill of being timed while you are eating.
I am always a slow eater so I definitely feel stressed with an iPad placed right beside me, telling me how much time has lapsed.
But there will be a gang cheering you on while you are doing the challenge which makes it really enjoyable! The crew at YOSHIMARU Ramen is so adorable and fun-loving.
No. 2 – A great excuse to eat two portions of this very oishi ramen.
I love eating ramen but I hate noodles that are thick and hard to digest. This Traditional Hakata Ramen is made from the thin Hakata noodles from Hakata, Kyushu. The thickness (or should I say thin-ness) of the noodles is just nice. You’ve just got to try it yourself.
No. 3 – Take loads of funny photos.
Ultimately, you wouldn’t have much opportunities to take part in this kind of eating competition in Singapore. This is a good chance to take loads of funny photos. (Hint: Taking photo with such a big bowl of ramen will make your face appear smaller. It is all about the proportions.)
No. 4 – Bonding session with your family and friends.
Have your friends ever complained of your slow eating habits or your small appetite? Well, challenge them at this competition to see who fares better. Laugh it off when none of you can complete the challenge or be amazed by how fast your friend/family member can polish off 2 portions of ramen. General rule of thumb is to have fun.
No. 5 – Become the next Ramen Eating Champion!
If you can eat really fast, you might be the next ramen eating champion! How cool is that? I have always admired people who can eat a lot within a short time frame, especially guys. Not only will you be featured on the wall of fame, you will be walking home with attractive prizes too!
This was last year’s winner. 🙂
While we were eating, there was a long queue right outside YOSHIMARU Ramen Bar. Be sure to head there early for the best ramen in Singapore! The challenge will run from 18 June to 26 July 2015. ❤
