Taiwan Din Tai Fung, Dihua Street and Ice Monster 【

Starting with the first day of the farm trip to Taiwan.🙂

Reached Changi Airport early in the morning, checked in my luggage and then had breakfast with mummy.

Thank you Shiseido for the travel kit. Really saved my skin from the cold weather in Taiwan!

Arrived in Taoyuan International Airport and met up with fellow bloggers and media personnel invited to the event. Thereafter, we went on a 40 mins ride to Taipei City by mini bus.

The first hotel that we stayed at is United Hotel, located at Daan district in Taipei. This hotel is just a 3 minutes walk from the Zhogxiao Dunhua MRT Station. It feels like a 4-star hotel to me. Its location is really good and the room is clean.

Because I was the only Singaporean blogger on the trip, I had one entire room to myself. Wonderful~

After dumping our luggage in our rooms, we walked over to Din Tai Fung (Or Ding Tai Fung according to Hanyupinyin) for dinner. I was here three years back, wanting to try the most authentic Din Tai Fung Xiaolongbao. However, the queue was simply crazy and we ate at a restaurant nearby instead. This time round, there wasn’t as much people.

As it was a blogger’s event, they ensured that we tried as much of their best cuisines. Some of which were the Xiaolongbao, the fried rice, the pork chop and the red bean dumpling dessert.🙂

After the sumptuous dinner, it was time for Free & Easy! I’ve always wanted to go to Dihua Night Market. Coincidentally, the two Hong Kong bloggers on the trip also wished to head there. So we flagged a cab and went straight for the night market known for selling traditional dried goods and New Year goodies when Chinese New Year draws near.

This place is jam packed with people. But it is not as bad as Feng Jia Night Market in Taichung.

Most of the people were choosing New Year goodies.

We also understand from locals that Dihua Night Market is a place where you can go on an empty stomach and fill it up without spending a single cent. There is so much food to try along the way. The stallholders will just pass you different food items to sample and they wouldn’t force you to buy from them. I tried some peanuts and sweets over there.🙂

We chanced upon a really cute Hello Kitty angpao! I will be giving away one Hello Kitty angpao to a lucky fan on Follow My Wanders Facebook page. ^^

I spotted this very creative signboard while we were being squeezed in the crowd. It says 老板跑路了,meaning the boss ran away. Interesting way to draw eyeballs and drive traffic to the stall.😀

Lastly, before returning to the hotel, we went to try Ice Monster. This place is famous for its Iced Mango dessert aka

We ordered the Iced Mango and the Milk Tea flavors. Prefer the Iced Mango. It is their signature dish anyway.ice monster 1ice monster 2

Glad to have tried it out even though the weather was pretty cold and the prices of the desserts were a bit steep. It is about NTD180 (SGD7.80) per dessert.

  1. Ah that is nice to have the whole room to yourself. Just like when I joined Tourism Selangor program known as #TSBreakAway, I was given a room to myself too!🙂
