Here we are at Wat Chalong, one of the most important Buddhist temples in Phuket. It is not far from the place we docked so we just took a short bus ride over to this temple.
This temple is dedicated to two venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang. According to travel guides, they led the people of Chalong sub-district to fight against the Chinese rebellion. Their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured during the unrest.
This place is packed with locals and tourists. You just see so many people walking around the temple. While it is hot and humid outside, the interior of the temples are really cooling, with the marble floor and all. And there is pretty much to see around the place.
We spent about one hour walking through the entire Wat Chalong as it is a pretty big place. Just a gentle reminder: Refrain from wearing clothes that are too revealing at the temple as it might offend the locals.
Besides that, this is a wonderful historical place to explore. 🙂
