Rajiv Gandhi Memorial, Chennai

IMG_5420Many of times, we were brought to a place without knowing the significance of it. It happened on this day when we went to the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial. I had actually visited the place without anyone telling me the prominence of Rajiv Gandhi. As such, I decided to do some wiki-ing when I am back in the hotel.

Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India and he came from a prominent family of politicians. He was at a public meeting at a village near Chennai called Sriperumbudur when he was assassinated by a suicide bomber from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. This memorial was constructed at the place where he was assassinated.

As a tourist, I got other contestants to take some pictures of myself at that place. And they really had creative angles. No wonder we are all filmmakers!

Anyway, three days only and I am enjoying the team, made up of Singaporeans, Emirates and Indians! It is just so cool! When will you ever get to travel around with such an international group? 🙂
